Yesterday afternoon after work, I went to the Sichuan Provincial Orthopedic Hospital with colleagues from the Party Affairs Office of our unit to visit a female colleague in the Publicity Department who had a broken wrist. Combined with the connotations of the "Diamond Sutra" and the "Heart Sutra", this visit gave me a deeper perception.
We carried gifts such as milk and American ginseng into the ward and saw the warm smile on her face. I realized that the care between people is just like the "formless giving" mentioned in the "Diamond Sutra", not being attached to the return, and purely giving care.
In that moment, I understood that using money to exchange for things that can be taken away is actually a formless giving, and the pleasure it brings is just like what is mentioned in the "Heart Sutra", "with no obstructions in the mind, and without any fear". This pleasure does not come from the possession of materials, but from the peace and satisfaction of the heart.
Looking at her smile, I realized that in our lives, we often chase external achievements and wealth, but ignore the peace of our hearts. Just like what is stated in the "Heart Sutra", "See the nature of all phenomena as being empty of self-nature". We should break away from the bondage of materials and gain insight into the essence of our hearts.
When her husband sent us to the elevator, my inner joy was beyond words. This joy goes beyond the glory and wealth of the secular world, just like what the "Diamond Sutra" emphasizes, "arising of the mind without abiding anywhere".
This visit also made me value health more. Just as stated in the "Heart Sutra", "Without eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind, without forms, sounds, smells, tastes, touches, and dharmas". The body is the instrument for our practice and should be taken good care of.
Through this experience, I have realized the wisdom conveyed in the "Diamond Sutra" and the "Heart Sutra": let go of attachments, care for others, gain insight into the heart, and cherish health. In the future journey of life, I will deal with everything with a more peaceful state of mind and care for people around me with my heart.
In short, this visit not only gave me the warmth between people, but also under the enlightenment of the Dharma, I found the peace and strength of my heart.
